Stage 6
Peschiera-Goito
The crossing of the great Po Valley begins in Peschiera. Unlike what one might mistakenly think, however, this stretch is anything but monotonous; several waterways flank us, historical arteries used for all kinds of type of transfer, taking us back to the not-so-distant years when goods and people preferred to move on water rather than using land roads. On this stage we encounter some pretty castle villages, such as Ponti over the Mincio and Monzambano, and the important town of Volta Mantovana that we recommend visiting for its beautiful historical center full of valuable monuments. In Volta you can also stop breaking the rather long stage. For those in a hurry who want to reach Goito directly, it is possible to use a direct variant, shorter by about 7 km.
